Our story

A locally-owned placement firm built on one belief: the people you trust with your family should be chosen with care.

The Home Place was founded in Magnolia, Texas — because the families here deserved a placement firm that treats matching seriously, and the candidates here deserved to be seen as the professionals they are.

Our story

Why we started The Home Place

The Home Place was founded on a familiar Texas problem: families in North Houston were driving into central Houston or Austin to work with the established placement agencies, and the smaller local agencies weren't vetting to the standard families expected. There was no boutique placement firm serving Magnolia, The Woodlands, Tomball, and Spring with the level of care that a family entrusting someone with their home and children actually deserved.

We also came to this work with a real understanding of the other side of the equation — what it means to be trusted with someone's home and children, what it means to be underpaid for that trust, and what it means when a family gets the relationship right.

So we built the placement firm we wished existed. Small on purpose. Local on purpose. Structured to serve both sides of the equation with equal seriousness — because a placement is only as good as the fit for both the family and the candidate.

We're building the systems behind The Home Place with the same seriousness — a proper technology backbone, not just a website — so the trust we earn with a family or a candidate on day one holds up for years, well past a single placement.

Our mission
“To be the placement firm our neighbors would trust with their own family — because we treat both the family we're serving and the person we're placing with the seriousness they deserve.”
How we operate

Four rules that don't bend.

Every family and every professional who works with The Home Place is held to the same four principles — no exceptions.

01

Honesty

We say what's true, even when it's inconvenient — about a candidate's fit, a family's expectations, or a timeline that's slipping.

02

Communication

Real updates, not silence. Families and professionals both deserve to know exactly where things stand, at every stage.

03

Professionalism

This is a business relationship built on trust, not a favor. We treat it — and expect it to be treated — that way, on both sides.

04

Respect

For a family's home and a professional's time and expertise. Full stop, no exceptions.

Values

Six things we don't compromise on.

01

Care over speed

We'd rather take three weeks and match well than two days and place a candidate who won't stick. Speed matters — but not more than fit.

02

Vetting without shortcuts

The full eight-stage vetting on every candidate. No expedited paths. No "just this once" waivers. No exceptions for anyone.

03

Honest pricing

Full fee structure in writing before you commit. No hidden add-ons, no surprise renewals, no upsells at the finish line.

04

Two-sided fairness

We only place with families willing to compensate fairly, and we only present candidates prepared to earn it. Both sides deserve a good deal.

05

Local roots

We stay in North Houston. Our candidates live here, our families live here, and we can be present when a placement needs attention in person.

06

Long relationships

We stay in touch with families and candidates long after placement day. The best placements grow into multi-year relationships — for all three of us.

Rooted here

Why we chose to stay small & local.

We could have chased a larger service area, opened a satellite in central Houston, franchised the model. Every consultant in this industry says we should.

But scale, in placement, comes at the cost of what makes it work. The moment we're presenting candidates we've never met in person, the moment we're routing families to a call center in another city, the moment we're prioritizing search volume over the relationship with the family whose home we're staffing — the whole thing stops being what it's supposed to be.

So we stay in North Houston. We cap our active family roster. We know every candidate on our list by name, story, and reference — because that's the whole point.

Who we're for

Not every family. Not every candidate. And that's the point.

We're a fit for families who:

  • Value fit and longevity over hiring the cheapest available option
  • Want a trusted match, not a stack of résumés to sort through
  • Are prepared to compensate professionally for skilled household work
  • Want a partner in the placement — not a résumé mill
  • Prefer honest communication over corporate scripts

We're a fit for candidates who:

  • Treat their work as a profession, not a side gig
  • Have real, verifiable experience and references
  • Are looking for long-term, well-matched placements rather than volume
  • Want a firm that has your back after placement, not just before

We're probably not a fit if you need the absolute lowest-cost placement in the market, need to place someone in the next 48 hours without vetting, or want to hire outside a proper household-employment structure. There are other options for those situations — we'll say so honestly.

Whether you're a family looking to hire or a candidate looking to be placed, we start the same way — a 20-minute call.
